Download an image or emoji in .png form and open in Preview.

Click the markup tool, which looks like a small pen, and the magic wand tool, and select the background with the magic wand tool. Click delete and save image.

Copy image from preview with Edit-Copy. Right Click the folder in question and select "Get Info".
